Farmers for a Day
Step into the boots of an urban farmer for a day! Participants will explore farming tools, visit beehives and native plant gardens, learn about soil health through vermicomposting, and engage with the greenhouse and chicken coop. The experience wraps up with a fun hands-on activity like a garden necklace craft, seed planting, or a plant part relay race. Get ready to roll up your sleeves, dig into the soil, and discover what it takes to grow the food we eat!
Earth to Table
Discover the journey of food from farm to table! Participants will explore the farm’s market garden, beehives, and fruit trees while learning about food systems, food waste, and the impact of agriculture on climate change. Through hands-on activities like harvesting, tasting, and preparing fresh produce, this sensory-rich experience highlights the power of local food and how we can take action for a more sustainable future.
Outdoor Survivalist
Embrace the wild and become an Outdoor Survivalist! This program invites participants to explore nature, from towering cedars to tiny soil organisms, while learning to identify native plants, wild edibles, animal tracks, and Canadian tree species. Hands-on activities like campfire cooking, salve-making, or nature crafts deepen the connection to the outdoors, fostering skills to protect and enjoy the natural world.
Urban Agriculture and Beyond
Dive into the world of urban farming and its deeper connections to food justice, sustainability, and community well-being. Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities like weeding farm fields, sowing seeds, or restoring the Food Forest, participants will explore topics such as food sovereignty, Indigenous land-based teachings, and climate action. This program fosters a deeper understanding of our food system and the role we all play in shaping a sustainable future.
